Rainbow Stage is thrilled to once again be hosting our annual Musical Theatre Conference for Students in 2020! Geared toward middle and high school aged students, attendees will choose and participate in four of eight unique sessions that cover many fundamental aspects of “putting on a show”. Attending students also receive a voucher for a free ticket to our 2020 production of The Wizard of Oz!
The first four years of the conference introduced students to the wide variety of departments that all work together to produce a musical. From set and lighting design to prop building, to choreography and Acting Through Song, participants were given insights and resources pertaining to each department’s role, professional process, tricks of the trade and career opportunities.
This year we are taking another step forward with our theme:
The Art of Communication
In a time where communication often seems impersonal, this year’s conference will encourage students to explore their inner storyteller through human rather than digital connection. By listening and responding to one another, two actors can perform a moving scene, a director can collaborate successfully with their performers and a designer can create a set that a playwright envisioned. By listening to one another and encouraging interaction with each other, students will be able to work together through our eight workshops to develop their creative voice and hone their interpersonal communication skills.
