STORY

Miss Shakespeare is a story inspired by the Bard’s daughter, whose own creative aspirations come alive as she leads a group of women in something secret, subversive, and illegal: the staging of a play.

  • Winnipeg Studio Theatre is a non-profit company founded in 2006 devoted to the support and development of Manitoba Artists. WST focuses on producing, creating, and developing Canadian and international contemporary plays and musicals, and strives to build bridges for artists from communities across Manitoba to the mainstages in Winnipeg and beyond.

PERFORMANCE INFORMATION

CONTENT AWARENESS
Recommended for ages 15 and over
Miss Shakespeare explores topics regarding women’s rights in the 1600s such as women’s sexuality, gender identity, pregnancy, and miscarriages.

RUNNING TIME
Approximately 2 hours (including one intermission)

SHOW TIME
EVENING PERFORMANCES: 7:30pm
MATINEE PERFORMANCES: 2:00pm
The lobby will open 1 hour prior to show time

RUSH SEATING
Doors to the theatre will open 20 minutes prior to the show at which point seats are chosen on a first come first served basis

PARKING

There is free parking on the street in the nearby neighborhoods (2 hours free on Saturday and free on Sunday). There are two paid parking lots located on the North and South sides of the theatre as well as at Portage Place mall.

TICKET PICK UP

If you have not received e-tickets, a box office agent can e-mail them to you to print or display on a mobile device. Call 204-989-0888 and we can assist you.
Tickets can also be picked up at will-call prior to the show.

ACCESSIBILITY FOR PATRONS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES
The Asper Centre for Theatre and Film is an accessible venue. Accessible seating is available in the main house (there is no accessible seating in the balcony).

CHILDREN IN THE THEATRE
Winnipeg Studio Theatre follows the standard theatre policy of no babes in arms. This means that all patrons must have a ticket in order to enter the theatre.
