“Mabuhay” means “to live”, but is commonly used as a greeting, “Welcome!”
We welcome Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike to this hilarious, heart-warming song and dance spectacle for the whole family!

WHO IS IT FOR?

Ages 8 and up!

STORY

Three young singers compete to win STAR ON THE RISE, a reality TV singing competition that has come to Canada from the Philippines!

Through a series of pop song & dance numbers, the story takes us from backstage to onstage, from the past to the present, and from Winnipeg to the Philippines as an assortment of wonderful characters to help us cheer on our favourite contestant!

MUSIC

This original musical features brand new music in the style of pop, R&B, and hip hop. It is high-energy and fun for the whole family.

DANCE

We are bringing jazz, lyrical and hip-hop dance together for a very exciting show that is reminiscent of Hamilton on Broadway.

SET

Set in Winnipeg against the backdrop of a reality TV singing competition (like THE VOICE or AMERICAN IDOL), Rainbow Stage will be transformed into a modern TV studio! Huge screens, live camera operators, great music, and amazing dancers, every number in the show will be like it’s own music video!

TAKEAWAY

The musical challenges our “grass-is-greener” assumptions about culture, money, & fame and encourages people to find their voice and discover the value of home.
