Director, Les Misérable
Marcia trained as an actor at The Drama Centre in London, England and began her career at the Royal Court Theatre. She went on to appear on Broadway, at the Stratford Festival and in many regional theatres in Canada, the UK and the US. She now enjoys a busy directing career that takes her across the country working on projects from major musicals to new plays. Her credits include four seasons at The Charlottetown Festival, numerous productions for RMTC including The Diary of Anne Frank and The Price, Neptune Theatre, Theatre Aquarius, Drayton Entertainment, Persephone Theatre, ATP, The Grand, The Segal Centre. Marcia is also an internationally produced playwright with eleven shows to her credit, including Discovering Elvis and For This Moment Alone. She and long-time collaborator Douglas E. Hughes have created five highly successful plays together; their most recent efforts being a comedy, Jack of Diamonds, which will premiere later this year, and a farce, Something Fishy, which just won the Tom Hendry New Play Award for Best Comedy. She is delighted to be at Rainbow Stage where she watched her mother (Libby Morris) perform as a child.
Music Director / Conductor, Les Misérable
Joseph is thrilled to be back at Rainbow Stage for his 4th season. An alumnus of Rainbow’s Creative Mentorship Program, Joseph has had the privilege of being mentored by veteran music directors Stephen Woodjetts and Elizabeth Baird, and ultimately took to the podium as music Director/conductor for last season’s The Producers. Selected music directing credits: Cabaret (Royal MTC), A Man of No Importance and Follies (Dry Cold), Rooms: A Rock Romance (Winnipeg Studio Theatre) and Altar Boyz (Prairie Theatre Exchange). Joseph looks forward to serving as music director for Royal MTC’s Billy Elliot The Musical next winter. Training: Manhattan School of Music and the University of Manitoba. Scott is very excited to be returning for the 2015 season! For Rainbow, Scott has designed the lighting for 21 productions in 13 years. Scott is looking forward to working with all the fantastic artists and technicians at Rainbow Stage this year. Special thanks to Karen, Sean and Alex for their love and support. Scott is a member of The Associated Designers of Canada and a graduate of Ryerson Theatre School.
Brian is very pleased to be designing the sets for Les Misérables. His previous Rainbow Stage credits include: Brigadoon, Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, and The Little Mermaid. Brian’s designs for theatre, opera, and dance have been featured on stages across the country. He is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg and The National Theatre School of Canada, and is the recipient of a Gemini award, a Jessie Richardson award , and a Prix Rideau Award.
Evan is pleased to stage manage Les Misérables, his 13th production with Rainbow Stage since his debut on the 50th Anniversary production of The King and I! Evan is also the production manager of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. In his stage management career, Evan has worked both locally and nationally as a stage manager, for companies such as RMTC, Theatre Calgary, Manitoba Opera & the Shaw Festival. Evan is a national councilor for Canadian Actors’ Equity Association.

Candace is thrilled to be returning, for a second summer, to Rainbow Stage. Candace is a native of Winnipeg who loves to travel to follow her passion of Stage Management. Ms. Maxwell has worked with Manitoba, Calgary, Edmonton Operas; RWB, Mirvish, RoyalMTC, PTE and Citadel Theatre. Ms. Maxwell trained at the University of Winnipeg and The Banff Centre. Heidi Malazdrewich is a Winnipeg based director. In the 2014/15 Theatre Season she directed The New Canadian Kid (MTYP) and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (RMTC/MBA). Favorite credits include directing the world premier of Alix Sobler’s The
Secret Annex (RMTC). She teaches at the University of Winnipeg and holds an MFA in directing from the University of Calgary.

Kristen last appeared with the Rainbow Stage in The King and I. She graduated from Ryerson University (TheatreDance) and her choreography has been performed on stages across North America and Internationally. Katherine is a graduate of the University of Winnipeg with a B.A. in Theatre Production and Stage Management. Sean started his theatrical career at the University of Winnipeg, then went on to complete a Master of Fine Arts at the University of Alberta in sets, lighting, and costume design. Based in Winnipeg, MB, Sean is a member of the ADC, and has been thrilled to be behind the scenes at Rainbow Stage this summer.

Tyrell is thrilled to be returning to Rainbow Stage. He was last seen in Footloose as Garvin. Past favourite credits include: Mary Poppins (Theatre Aquarius), Evangeline, Canada Rocks (Charlottetown Festival), Anne of Green Gables (Theatre Calgary) and West Side Story (Vancouver Opera). Tyrell was also seen on screen in Hellcats (CW), Once Upon a Time (ABC) and Girl vs Monster (Disney).
Tatiana last appeared at Rainbow as a member of the Children’s Chorus in Joseph. Since then she earned some degrees, and done some directing. Recent credits include You Were There (Pocket Frock Productions) and Godspell (Winnipeg Studio Theatre) as well as assistantships and apprenticeships with RMTC and WJT. Rachel is very excited to be the Apprentice Music Director for Rainbow Stage! Other current projects include working as Apprentice Music Director for Dry Cold Productions and Musical Directing Chess for the Winnipeg Fringe Festival this summer. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg and hopes to finish an ARCT Piano Performance diploma by 2016.
Rebekah is thrilled to be returning to Rainbow Stage, last appearing in The Wizard of Oz. Past Apprenticeships include The Addams Family and A Man of No Importance (Dry Cold Productions), Mike the Knight (Koba Entertainment). Rebekah is a founding director of the Springfield Theatre Company in Oakbank, MB as well as the Assistant Director to WST StudioWorks.

After calling Winnipeg home over a decade ago, Linsey is very happy to have moved back and be working with Rainbow Stage. Upon graduating from the National Theatre School of Canada in 2012, her time was spent travelling across the country working as an Apprentice Stage Manager.

Aaron Is very excited to make his debut as Jean Val Jean. Aaron Is also a competitive Jiu Jitsu Grappler and has won multiple championships throughout North America.
Kevin is very excited to be back at Rainbow Stage to be apart of this amazing musical. He last appeared on this stage playing “King Triton” in the 2014 production of Disney’s Little Mermaid. This production of Les Misérables is a milestone for Aaron, marking his tenth show with Rainbow Stage. Tenor and actor James Magnus-Johnston performs regularly with local ensembles Antiphony and the Winnipeg Singers, and as an occasional tenor soloist. His last major stage credit was HEAD (SIR), and he’s excited to return to the stage for Les Mis. James has degrees in Theatre from the University of Winnipeg (BA) and Economics from Cambridge University (MPhil). When he’s not singing, he teaches Political Economy at Canadian Mennonite University.
Kevin makes his 9th appearance at Rainbow Stage in Les Misérables. He has also directed Forever Plaid for RS in 2008. Was a member of the original Canadian cast of Miss Saigon and has appeared in the national tour of Les Misérables for Cameron Mackintosh, and Forever Plaid on Vancouver and Toronto. Currently lives in Los Angeles.
Nicolette is thrilled to be back at Rainbow stage. Jeffrey Pufahl is an accomplished actor, singer and director originally from Saskatoon. Wes Rambo – and yes, that is his real name – has been involved in Manitoba’s music and theatre communities since high school. He has performed roles with groups such as the Winnipeg Gilbert and Sullivan Society, White Rabbit, Crosswalk Players, and Winnipeg Studio Theatre. Wes is thrilled to be making his Rainbow Stage debut in one of his favourite shows of all time!

Catherine is happy to be performing again with Rainbow Stage after a 17 year “hiatus” doing Broadway, running a mortgage company, becoming a nurse, marrying Joel and having two kids, Elliot and Quinn. After being diagnosed with brain cancer she is happy to return home, doing what she loves most and being surrounded by her amazing friends and family.
